Our Sacred Heritage
The sacred heritage of Bhureshwar Mahadev is deeply anchored in ancient scripture and regional mythology. Academic research links this revered site to Rigveda 1.154.6 as the ancient Bhushring, while local folk narratives (jan shruti) hold that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati witnessed the Mahabharata war from these Himalayan heights. By meticulously chronicling this history, this initiative seeks to dispel modern misconceptions and safeguard the Daiv Sanskriti (divine culture) of Devbhoomi Himachal.
Beyond its spiritual resonance, the site safeguards a tangible history. It preserves physical proofs of its divine lineage, including an antique silver tumbadi, ritual stones, and the historical Sirmour State sanad. The sanctity of these traditions remains unbroken today, with the daily kar—sacred duties and rituals—faithfully executed by the hereditary Dev Pujaris of the Polia family from the village of Pujarli.

The Sacred Dev Yatra
Experience the divine energy of our traditions. From the serene daily puja at Kwagdhar to the rhythmic beats of the Dev Yatra and the sacred village khel, this shrine remains the beating heart of Sirmauri devotion. Watch a glimpse of the rituals and heritage that generations of Polia Pujaris have lovingly preserved.
"We do not serve this shrine merely as a duty—we inherit it as rin (a sacred debt). Enduring hunger, harsh weather, and the long journey from our ancestral village of Pujarli to the heights of Kwagdhar, our family has sustained the dhoop-deep, puja-paath, and murammat (maintenance), exactly as commanded by Dev tradition and historical state grants. Everything you see on this website - the ancient artifacts, festivals, genealogy, and sacred rituals - represents the unbroken heritage we have safeguarded for our community. I invite every devotee and researcher to explore and witness this living legacy with profound respect."
– Acharya Dr. Manoj Sharma (Deva Ji) Pradhan Pujari
